It’s essential to give our bodies a little immunity boost every now and then to support the work our body does to fight pathogens and keep us healthy and strong. Just like any powerhouse, our immune system needs the right fuel to function. To give our immune system that extra boost, add these immunity shots to your daily routine and your body will thank you!

It is also crucial for identifying and eliminating harmful germs like bacteria and viruses, the immune system takes care of sick cells, promotes healing and supports tissue repair amongst others.

Immunity shots are concentrated doses of vitamins and antioxidants that support your body’s natural defenses. These defenses are often weakened by factores such as stress, poor nutrition or environmental factors making us more susceptible to illnesses.

main ingredients

Fresh Ginger: Ginger is a powerful herb famous for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s great for combating infections, improving circulation and digestion. A great substitute is Ginger which is known for its antibacterial properties and can help boost immunity. Powdered ginger can also be used as a substitute, but its flavor and health benefits may be less potent.

Turmeric: contains curcumin, which boosts immune cellactivity and supports the body’s defenses, powdered turmeric can also be used or chili pepper, which has capsaicin that , also promotes immune health by enhancing circulation and providing anti-inflammatory benefits.

Orange: A fantastic source of vitamin C, oranges help boost your immune system and tackle oxidative stress. You can also use grapefruit, kiwi or pineapple for extra sweetness.

Lemon: just like oranges, lemons are packed with vitamin C and also promote hydration and detoxification.
I prefer using lemons in my immunity shots but you can also substitute for lime as they posses a similar characteristics.

Honey: Adds natural sweetness and has antimicrobial properties that can soothe the throat and enhance immune function.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Known for its detoxifying properties, it can also help balance the body’s pH and support digestion.

Cayenne Pepper: Provides a spicy kick and may boost circulation and metabolism while offering immune support.

Cinnamon: Offers anti-inflammatory benefits and adds warmth and flavor to the shot.

Matcha: provides additional immune support and energy.

Moringa Powder: Known for its nutrient density, moringa is a great addition for an extra health boost.

Chilled: Serve cold for a refreshing experience, especially on warm days. You can chill the mixture or add a few ice cubes when blending.

Immuni-tea: Heat the mixture gently to create a warm warm tea. Serve with a slice of like or lemon for extra zest!

In a Smoothie: Blend the immunity shot ingredients with other fruits or vegetables to create a nutrient-packed smoothie.

Ingredients

  • 60 g fresh ginger
  • 20 g fresh turmeric or turmeric powder if unavailable
  • 404 g fresh orange juice about 4-5 medium oranges
  • 70 g fresh lemon juice about 2-3 medium lemons

Instructions

  • Peel the ginger and turmeric and cut into smaller pieces.
  • Peel and remove the seeds from the oranges and lemons. Alternatively, you can juice oranges and lemons using an electric or manual citrus juicer.
  • In a blender, combine the ginger, turmeric, deseeded or juiced oranges and lemons. Blend until smooth.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the pulp. Discard the pulp or add to smoothies for added fiber and flavour.
  • Pour the mixture into small plastic or glass bottles. These shots can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for up to a month.
  • Take a shot every morning before breakfast to kickstart the day and boost your immune system!
